The short version: the conversations stay on the device, and we do not read them.

We say do not, rather than cannot, because that is the honest word. We build nothing whose purpose is reading what someone said, and the servers hold no conversation content — but a promise is a promise, not a law of physics, and we would rather be believed than sound clever.

What never leaves the device

No audio, ever. Listening and speaking both happen on the device itself, using the phone or tablet's own abilities. No recording is made, and no sound is sent anywhere.

The conversations themselves. Every turn is kept on the device so the app can work. None of it is uploaded.

What does get sent, and when

The line being translated. When something needs translating, that line goes over an encrypted connection to be translated and comes back. It is not stored and not used to train anything.

Recent turns, for suggested replies. To offer possible answers, Loquela sends the last few turns of the conversation happening now. Never anything from a previous day.

Nothing else. If the app is offline, the words simply wait on the screen.

What we hold

Very little: which devices have been used, what was bought, and anything written to us for help. No names are required and no email address is asked for.

If the safe copy is switched on, we also hold one encrypted file that we have no key to open.

Deleting things

Two separate controls in Settings → Privacy:

• Delete the conversations on this device — removes what is stored locally.
• Delete what is kept for us — removes what is on our side, including any remaining allowance. This is immediate and cannot be undone.

Deleting is not the same as cancelling a subscription; that is done in the device's own subscription settings.

The safe copy

Off unless you switch it on. It carries the phrases someone made, their prepared discussions and their card — so a new device is not a fresh start.

It never includes conversations. And it is encrypted with a key that stays on the device, which means it is the one thing here we genuinely cannot read.
